Around fifty guests, many of them travelling from Canada, gathered for a day that never tried to be more than what it was. Close friends, family, good food and an evening that stretched on in the way summer evenings do in the north of Germany. The light stayed warm and soft well into the night, and the atmosphere outside had that particular quality that only comes when people are genuinely happy to be somewhere together.
