BRIDAL SHOOT AT CA'S XORC, MALLORCA — ANALOG FILM AND EVENING LIGHT
Ca's Xorc sits above Sóller, in the hills of the Tramuntana mountains on the northwest coast of Mallorca. It has a quality that is difficult to prepare for. You arrive, you look out across the olive groves and the valley below, and everything else becomes secondary. For a bridal shoot it is close to perfect.
The shoot was built around a dress by Anne Wolf, clean and elegant with a softness that felt completely at home in the surroundings. We worked through the late afternoon as the light shifted and dropped, and the location gave us something different at every turn. The terraces, the stone walls, the open views across the valley, each spot had its own character.
A large part of the session was photographed on analog film, and Ca's Xorc is exactly the kind of place where 35mm makes sense. The grain, the warm tones, the way the light wraps around the stone, it all comes together in a way that feels less like a photograph and more like a memory. The digital frames are sharp and clean. The analog frames have something else, a stillness that suits the location well.
